The “Lei Mau Loa” Collection celebrates the timeless tradition of the Hawaiian lei, symbolizing love, honor, and connection. This piece embodies the spirit of “Lei Mau Loa,” which means “eternal lei” in Hawaiian. Inspired by the enduring beauty of the islands, “Forever Lei” represents the everlasting bonds we share with loved ones and the vibrant aloha that flows year-round in Hawai‘i. Just as leis are woven with care and meaning, this piece captures the joyful colors and textures of flowers that bloom across the islands, honoring a tradition that never fades.
The pieces are named in Spanish, Lei en la Playa (Lei on the Beach), and Pua en la Playa (flower on the Beach). These pieces try to capture the shimmer reflected on the sand and the depth of colors in the Hawaiian flowers.
Ana Lucia poured resin coats with pure pigments to cover the piece and try to capture the fluid movements of the vibrant colors within the flowers. Each flower is uniquely detailed with acrylic paint. The colorful strokes of paint give a different essence to each flower.
Resin and acrylic on wood frame.
The pieces in this collection took an average of 5 weeks to make. To help preserve this piece, please keep away from direct sunlight. If needed, you can clean the surface of the piece with glass cleaner and a gentle cloth. Please note that the artist tries her best to make each piece as flawless as possible but resin is a medium that makes this very difficult. This piece might have dust particles but it does not take away from the beauty of the piece. Embracing imperfections, this piece was made with love and aloha.
